AFI KLM E&M obtains EASA approval to support LEAP operations

After establishing a license with aircraft engine manufacturer CFM International, AFI KLM E&M has now obtained EASA approval to provide support during initial operations of the new-generation power plants. The Group has thus become one of the first suppliers of MRO services to be able to assist LEAP operators worldwide during the entry into operational service phase. AFI KLM E&M can now meet the needs of its customers in carrying out the on-wing/on-site work on LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines. The scope of these interventions is tailored to the requirements of operating airlines, and may include activities like, power plant build-up, borescope inspection, and line replaceable unit (LRU) replacement services, among many others.

Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President, AIR FRANCE KLM Engineering & Maintenance, said: “We are proud to be able to support our customers as of now by carrying out the on-wing/on-site and line maintenance operations. This is an important milestone for our Group in developing a comprehensive, cutting-edge maintenance offering dedicated to the LEAP engine, which will enable us to gain precious experience and to work in partnership with our customers to guarantee them the most optimal support.”
